About PowerPoint Shortcuts

Microsoft PowerPoint debuted in 1987 for Mac and 1990 for Windows. As of 2026 it remains the dominant presentation software worldwide, used to author an estimated 30 million presentations every day. PowerPoint's keyboard shortcuts center on the slideshow experience (F5 to start, Esc to end, B/W for black/white screens) and on rapid slide editing (Ctrl+M new slide, Ctrl+D duplicate, Tab to navigate between objects). This reference card covers the most-used 90+ shortcuts across 7 functional areas: Common commands, Slideshow, Slides panel & editing, Text & formatting, Objects/shapes/images, Tables & charts, Review & presentation. All entries are transcribed from Microsoft's official PowerPoint documentation (Windows + Mac variants side-by-side). How to use - Pick your platform (Windows / macOS) at the top. - Search any feature name or shortcut text. - Click any row's Copy button to grab the key string. - Export PNG (2400×1140 landscape) for a wallpaper; PDF for a single A4 landscape page. Tips - F5 starts slideshow from the first slide; Shift+F5 starts from the current slide. Esc ends it. - B / W turn the screen black / white during a slideshow — use to pause discussion on a particular point. - Ctrl+D duplicates the current selection (slide in slide panel, object on slide). The fastest way to build out a deck. - Ctrl+M inserts a new slide after the current one. Combine with Ctrl+D for rapid slide cloning. - Alt+F5 opens Presenter View with notes, next slide preview, and a timer — essential for actual presentations. Why this separate from vscode-shortcuts? PowerPoint is about presentation, not code editing. Mixing it with IDE shortcuts would dilute both tools. This separation keeps each printable as one page.
